What data I'm Sorry I Lied collects, including the photo you upload, how we use it and how to ask us to delete it.

This Privacy Policy explains what data I'm Sorry I Lied (imsorryilied.com, "we", "us") collects when you use the site, why we collect it and what choices you have. I'm Sorry I Lied is an independent fan tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by TikTok, CapCut or any creator of the trend.

What we collect

  • Account data. You sign in with Google or with your email address. We store your email address, your name and, if you use Google, the profile picture your Google account provides.
  • The photo you upload. The childhood Halloween photo you choose to make a set with: of yourself as a child, or of a child you are the parent or legal guardian of.
  • What you type. The costume the photo was supposed to show (for example "a butterfly"), which we use to make your set and its captions.
  • Your sets and requests. The AI photos, slides, videos and zip files we make for you, and the details of each request, such as its status and the credits used.
  • Payment data. Payments are processed by Stripe. We receive order details such as the product, amount and payment status. We never see or store your card number.
  • Technical and usage data. Your IP address and browser information, recorded by our sign-in system and servers for security, and basic analytics about how the site is used (for example pages visited, browser and device type), collected with Plausible, which we host ourselves.
  • Messages you send us, for example support emails.

How your photo is processed

  • When you make a set, your photo is stored temporarily in our cloud storage (Cloudflare R2) at an unlisted link, so our AI image provider, a third-party AI image API, can fetch it and run it through two different third-party AI image models. The uploaded photo is used only to make your set and is deleted automatically within 2 days.
  • Your finished set (the AI photos, the slides, the MP4 videos and the zip files) is stored in our cloud storage (Cloudflare R2) so you can download it again from My videos. The last slide of the trend is the real photo, so the slides, videos and zip files include your original photo.
  • We do not use your photos to train AI models.
  • You can ask us to delete your sets or your account at any time by emailing support@imsorryilied.com from the email address on your account.

How we use your data

  • To run the service: sign you in, make and store your sets, and manage your credits.
  • To process payments and refunds.
  • To prevent abuse and enforce our Terms of Service, including refusing or removing content that breaks our rules.
  • To understand and improve the site through basic analytics.
  • To answer your questions.

We do not sell your personal data.

Who we share data with

We share data only with the service providers we need to run I'm Sorry I Lied, and only for that purpose:

  • our AI image provider and the AI image models it runs (your photo and the image request);
  • Cloudflare (temporary storage of your photo and storage of your finished sets);
  • Stripe (payments);
  • Google (only if you choose to sign in with Google);
  • Vercel (hosting) and Resend (email delivery).

We may also disclose data if the law requires it, or to protect our users, the public or the service.

Cookies

We use cookies that are needed to keep you signed in. Our analytics tool may also use cookies or similar technologies.

How long we keep data

  • Account data: while your account is open.
  • Your uploaded photo: deleted automatically within 2 days of upload.
  • Your finished sets (including the slides that show your original photo): we keep them so you can download them again, until you ask us to delete them or close your account.
  • Payment records: as long as tax and accounting laws require, even after you close your account.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, email support@imsorryilied.com. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

I'm Sorry I Lied is only for people aged 18 or older. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will close it and delete its data.

The photos you upload show a child: you as a child, or a child you are the parent or legal guardian of. Do not upload photos of other people's children. If you are the parent or legal guardian of a child in a photo someone else uploaded, email support@imsorryilied.com and we will review it and remove it.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International transfers

Our service providers may process data in countries other than yours. When they do, we rely on the safeguards those providers offer.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version on this page and change the "Last updated" date above.
